When I hear the word hyper car, three cars come to mind. Those three are the Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari LaFerrari and the McLaren P1. Each of these cars is considered a “hyper car” because of the fact the run off two motors, one gas and one electric. This means that they are ridiculously fast and can hold a tank of gas for more than two seconds. These are the cars that we saw drawings of years ago and said, “no way is that ever going to be an actual car”. But now its reality and it’s not just a sketch. They are real cars now. Which is mind-blowing.

The first of the three hyper cars I will talk about is the Porsche 918 Spyder. This car is devilishly good looking and comes in many colours and specifications to fit the driver’s needs. It has a mid-mounted V8 and two electric motors, placed at each axle, that in total, produce 877 horsepower to all four wheels. The acceleration is mind boggling, 0-60 in 2.2 seconds and a top speed of around 215 mph. Now all this comes at a cost, it just happens to be the cheapest of the three, starting price at $848k, but if spec’d up, it can get to $932k. This car is definitely competing with the other two hyper cars even though it is cheaper and not as powerful.

Next up out of the three is the Ferrari LaFerrari. Probably the stupidest name possible for any car, but it’s okay, the car makes up for the horrible name. The LaFerrari is one of the prettier ones of the three cars, but what else would you expect from Ferrari. It has a 789hp V12, plus 161hp boost from the electric motor. This totals at around 950hp. Yeah that’s a lot of power for one car.  Ferrari uses its special AWD system to put the power down like no tomorrow. Its 0-60 time is 2.5 seconds and its top speed is 217mph. This is the most expensive car of the three, it comes in at around $1.5 million. A lot of money for a lot of car, makes sense I guess.

The last of the three magnificent hyper cars, the McLaren P1. This is my personal favourite of the three cars because of its stunning looks and jaw dropping power. This car was named the “Widow maker”, by famous car show host, Jeremy Clarkson. That is a suitable name for the car as it has a 3.8 L V8 that produces 727hp, plus the electric motor which adds an extra 177hp. This all adds up to the grand total of 903hp. Yes it is not as much horsepower as the Ferrari, but it is quicker to 60, as it does it in 2.1 seconds and has a higher top speed of 223mph. That is like jet plane territory. One cool fact about this car is that NASA helped develop it, so I’m guessing that if you were to put wings on it, it would probably fly away. It is expensive, what else would you expect though. It comes in at around $1.15 million. In my opinion, it is worth every dime.

Those are the three craziest cars at the moment, all with insane amounts of power, stunning looks and million dollar price tags. So maybe in 2035 it will be somewhat affordable, but probably not as people call these cars, “huge investments”. Prices for these cars in years to come will shoot up. This is the making of car history, all started with these three amazing cars, the Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari LaFerrari and the McLaren P1.
